European Union Elections 2024

Elections for a new EU Parliament will take place from June 6 - 9. 320 million Europeans are called upon to help decide the future of European policy. In the last EU election, enthusiasm and voter turnout were low. Voters were impeded by language barriers, apathy regarding EU affairs, and lack of focus on national issues. With right-wing parties on the rise across Europe, increasing urgency of the climate crisis and growing social inequality, every vote counts! Make sure to stay informed and support democracy in Europe.

EU Taxonomy for Sustainable Activities

As part of the European Green Deal, an EU taxonomy has been implemented to help the region reach its climate and energy targets. The initiative will make it easier for investors to make greener choices, and shift the focus onto sustainable growth concerning the economy, business, and society including health care. It will determine which activities and projects are classified as environmentally sustainable. In theory this should prevent greenwashing, and create security for investors, as well as scaling up sustainable investment. It is hoped that this scheme will inspire other countries to start their own taxonomies. However, there is much controversy around around the fact that nuclear energy and natural gas were included as greenwashing.
